The Geneva Bible was in every Puritan household from the 16th and 17th century and even arrived to America on the Mayflower ship. This very translation was the first Bible ever to use chapters and numbered verses along with marginal notes, which contributed to its popularity. Before the King James Bible's popularity took off, the Geneva Bible served as the most influential English translation.
